ERRG is looking for a dynamic Senior HR Generalist to be based at our Martinez, CA office location.

About the job

The Sr. Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the daily administration of policies and programs covering several or all the following Human Resources areas: recruitment, employee on-boarding and off-boarding, benefits, compensation, compliance, employee and labor relations. The Sr. Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing professional and administrative support, follow up, advice and counsel on company policies, procedures and documentation including coordinating the resolution of specific policy-related and/or procedural issues and inquiries.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage employee onboarding. Submit background checks, coordinate onboarding activities and conduct new hire orientations.
  • Manage employee off-boarding processes.Conduct exit interviews.
  • Process and manage leaves of absence requests, including FMLA, PDL, and personal.
  • Process employee status changes, terminations, and salary/merit increases in JD Edwards enterprise HRIS system.
  • Maintain and ensure completeness of department records and files. Perform periodic audits of HRIS data and departmental systems for quality assurance and quality control.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining the employee handbook.
  • Assist with company compensation guide and participate in periodic compensation analysis.
  • Working with the corporate Health & safety department, submit Workers' Compensation claims.
  • Assist with annual reporting, such as FSA non-discrimination testing.
  • Update annual legal posting binders for offices and project sites across the US.
  • Serve as a resource to employees and managers in discussing and resolving employment issues. May assist with internal investigations and provide objective feedback and recommendations to managers on human resources and employee relations issues.
  • Identify areas of improvement within the HR department and make recommendations to leadership on how to strengthen policies and procedures.
  • Recognize trends in the job market among employees and offer suggestions to leadership on enhancing employee engagement and cultivating a positive company culture.
  • Perform additional HR administrative tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant Human Resources experience.
  • Exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of federal and state employment and benefit laws (e.g. FMLA, PDL, ADA, OSHA, EEOC, etc.).
  • Stay informed about relevant employment laws and regulations to ensure ERRG's policies and practices remain compliant. Guiding leadership, management, and employees on legal requirements related to employment matters.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting data, with the ability to provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Proficiency in project management and familiarity with project principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of leave administration and workers' compensation processes.
  • Previous experience with onboarding procedures.
  • Strong conflict resolution abilities.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including data manipulation in Excel.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience with HRIS systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee and client information.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a related field.
  • Experience in the Construction / Remediation industry.
  • Professional Human Resources certification (SHRM, PHR, etc.)
  • Experience with Oracle JDE Enterprise One.
  • Experience using Taleo Business Edition.
  • Employee relations experience involving coaching and counseling employees and managers to resolve employment issues.
  • Conversational in Spanish.
