OVERVIEW:

The Teacher is responsible for providing academic instruction and project-based learning to students in the Summer Day Camp Program, under the direction of the Education Manager. The goal is to create a joyful learning environment to address summer learning loss and to support an easier transition back to school.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide instruction to students, in collaboration with the assigned teaching team, from a strengths-based approach
  • Design, plan, and implement lesson plans in/outside the classroom meeting program academic standards
  • Design, plan, prepare, and actively participate in creative or active afternoon activities
  • Ensure implementation of behavior support plans in/outside the classroom designed by Behavior and Academic Specialist(s) and/or Education Leadership Advisement
  • Assist with and participate in any other programs part of the Summer Day Camp
  • Integrate social-emotional learning throughout programming with advisement from Behavior & Academic Specialist(s) and/or Education Leadership
  • Report possible cases of child abuse, neglect, or endangerment to the proper authorities.
  • Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Bachelor's Degree or Teacher Credential In-Progress (required)
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs (preferred)
  • Experience in teaching and leading youth in academic or creative settings
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds and ages, TK - 7th in an urban environment, and/or personal experience with SFUSD (preferred)
  • Experience in researching resources or tools for students and families
  • Experience handling emotionally charged situations

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of teaching and leading youth in project-based, experiential, or hands-on learning
  • Ability to lead and teach in a trauma-informed manner
  • Great communication skills
  • Comfortable enforcing program rules and policies
  • Team player

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (Usually file boxes)

Education
Bachelors (required)

Experience
