Primary Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support our expanding geologic & geotechnical section within our Denver, CO office. The primary duties of the position include:

  • To plan, execute, and complete geotechnical tasks on assigned projects independently and collaboratively.
  • Review design and construction submittals for geotechnical compliance with applicable codes, design standards, project requirements, and contract documents.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses, prepare proposals and reports, and coordinate with designers and contractors to implement recommendations on plans and in the field.
  • Support development of technical scope of works and fee proposals, as well as new project pursuits related to geotechnical services.
  • Leadership role in planning, organizing, and coordinating the work of entry- and mid-level professionals
  • Participation on Risk Informed Decision Making (RIDM) teams

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate will be a technical expert, leader, and authority in projects and tasks involving geotechnical/geologic engineering. Required qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology, or Civil Engineering
  • PE with ability to obtain CO through reciprocity.
  • Geotechnical engineering experience on dams, levees, hydraulic structures, or civil works infrastructure.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, and engineering software (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, gINT, GIS, Civil 3D, Leapfrog, Settle3D) or other software as appropriate.
  • Knowledgeable of today's technical standards, including but not limited to USACE, Reclamation, FERC, etc.
  • Ability to independently develop geotechnical data/engineering reports
  • Ability to independently make decisions and recommendations that will impact a project's activities and direction
  • Experienced with the technical review for compliance with project technical requirements
  • Ability to independently complete and/or coordinate analyses associated with settlement, slope stability and embankment design, foundation design, retaining wall design, lateral deep foundation response, required
  • Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments successfully.
  • The candidate shall have at least 10 years or more experience in the general field of geotechnical or geological engineering, specializing in:
    • Dams, levees and hydraulic structures
    • Shallow/Deep Foundations
    • Lateral Analyses
    • Experience in subsurface investigations
    • Field & laboratory testing and the determination of in-situ material properties
    • Soil compaction and earthwork construction
    • Soil mechanics
    • Seepage and piping
    • Foundation inspection and assessment
    • Landslide and slope stability evaluations
    • Bearing capacity and settlement
    • Design and construction of foundations
    • Erosion protection design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology, or Civil Engineering
  • Technical experience including construction management services and field investigations for dams, levees, and hydraulic structures projects
  • Active participation in related professional societies (ASCE, USSD, ASDSO, AEG, DFI, GEER)
  • Experience with Risk Analyses (Screening, SQRA, QRA, etc.)
  • The ability to manage a multi-discipline project team.
  • A minimum of 10 years of geotechnical experience.

The expected compensation range for this position is $114,037.00 - $162,910.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
