SUMMARY

Sanitation team members work closely with one another to maintain a clean and sanitized food grade environment for all Gallo employees and products working in an indoor and outdoor environment. Accountable for maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of tanks, pipelines, hoses and other processing equipment within the production operation. The team is required to wear Personal Protective Equipment when conducting all sanitation related task. Sanitation is responsible for infrastructure cleaning (Wine Tanks, Pumps, Chillers, spills, general housekeeping, etc.). Work is prioritized in support of a Cellar/Bottling Production schedule and a Sanitation Master Cleaning schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrates safe basic operation of required equipment (Pumps, Forklifts. Tractor, Wave, pressure washer, Electric scrubbers...)
  • Cleans and treats equipment, grounds and buildings.
  • Handles chemicals and uses proper P.P.E.
  • Washes, treats and sanitizes processing and product tanks, truck tankers, truck stations, etc.
  • Responsible for Chemical Inventory and System Audits.
  • Operates smaller equipment units (pressure washers, tank wash pumps, etc.)
  • Supports PM and rebuild efforts through detailing and re-conditioning of Equipment/Tanks.
  • Evaluates and inspects equipment / Tanks critical to producing quality finish product.
  • Supports QA through cleaning, inspecting, sanitation and swab inspections of tanks and equipment.
  • Participates in writing training manuals and work instructions within the scope of Modesto Operation Sanitation Team.
  • Drives and operates industrial equipment (forklifts, tractor, wave, etc.).
  • Participates in housekeeping principals based on Quality, 5S and GMP guidelines.
  • Supports overall departmental goals and objectives and applies them to individual work performance.
  • Communicates, coordinates and problem solves with other support departments (Maintenance, Production, QA, etc.).
  • Wears a radio and respond to calls.
  • Supports a safe working environment.
  • Actively participates in team and departmental meetings.
  • Participates in the execution of small scale projects. (Safety, BBS, 5S, Lean, etc.)
  • Involved in training of peers and new hires.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Other production or sanitation teams with basic assignments or tasks (based on current or future business need)
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate
  • Sanitation Experience.
  • Required to pass Work Keys testing
  • Required to train in Cellar Sanitation. (M.O.S.T.) Due to business need, may be required to assist Bottling Sanitation.
  • Required to complete Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • Required to train on Hazardous Material Identification and proper disposal.
  • Required to pass respirator qualification process.
  • Required to complete Confined Space Entry Training.
  • Required to complete Tank Entry Permit training.
  • Required to work aloft and on platforms at heights up to 70 feet high.
  • Required to lift and move a maximum of 50 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Cellar and Bottling operation sanitation experience.
  • Self motivated, shows initiative, and demonstrates the skill in multi tasking.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Works well under pressure, delegates work and manages priorities efficiently.
  • Good communication, presentation and writing skills.
  • Active member of the ERT (Emergency Response Team).
  • Basic to intermediate level Microsoft Office application, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Familiarity with GMP and Safety Audits.
  • Basic working knowledge of Food Safety, Safety, Quality, Sanitation, and Production systems.
  • Basic understanding of Cellar/Bottling terminology and equipment identification.
  • Read, analyze and interpret work instructions, chemical guidelines, and MSDS sheets.
  • Trained in Lock Out, Tag Out.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to:

  • Required to work aloft and on platforms at heights up to 70 feet high.
  • Standing and walking up to 90 percent of the workday.
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, handling and grasping, twisting/turning.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds with torso rotation and neck movement occurs on an occasional basis.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Lifting maximum 50 pounds.

  • Will be required to work with chemicals (acids, Sterox, ClO2, etc.).
  • Noise level is loud, therefore requiring hearing protection at all times.

  • The primary working surface is concrete.
  • Work activities can be performed indoors or outdoors.
  • Indoor temperatures fluctuate from winter to summer.
  • Will be required to work in hot, cold, wet and dirty conditions, (outdoor and indoor).

Compensation

  • Hiring Salary Range Posted:$26.76-26.76
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
