Operate machines that automatically addresses, weighs, and ties into bundles printed publications, such as magazines, catalogs, and pamphlets, for mailing according to zip code. Review manufacturing instructions to determine type and size of publication scheduled for mailing. Make adjustments to guides, rollers, loose card inserter, weighing machine, and tying arm, using rule and hand tools. Records production acccording to customer name and zip code, and machine down time due to malfuctions or lack of work. Requires knowledge of standard set ups, adjustments and operating characteristics of the equipment and skill to perform standard adjustments and operate the equipment. Ability to set up, operate, and perform basic adjustments to the equipment according to the individual job requirements, operating characteristics, and capabilities of the equipment. Typically, the adjustments performed at this level are routine and the need for such adjustments are readily apparent.

Requires a thorough knowledge of equipment set up, adjustment, operating procedures, and a corresponding level of skill to set up, operate, and adjust the equipment. Able to set up, operate, and adjust the equipment, and in addition, diagnose, solve, and correct operating problems affecting the quality and timeliness of the service or product or function. May instruct junior level operators how to complete the required corrective adjustment. Typically, corrective adjustments performed require the operator to consider the symptom(s), possible causes and remedies.
With or without an accommodation must be able to lift and handle materials of 35 lbs, while pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting and twisting; and must be able to stand continually with frequent bending, stooping and squatting. Requires ability to read and make mathematical computations as relates to mailing operations. Must have ability to visually inspect printed material as it comes off the equipment. Ability to distinguish between colors. Ability to work in a team environment, have excellent problem-solving ability, be reliable and have strong attention to detail. Ability to work all shifts and overtime as required based upon production demands.
Proven knowledge, skills and experience in the setup, adjustment and operation of inkjet and/or inserter equipment in a commercial print or mailing operation.
