STV Incorporated is a national engineering/architectural design and services firm that has completed award winning projects in Transportation/Infrastructure, Energy, Construction Management, and Buildings/ Facilities. We have a large vehicle engineering practice which leads the industry in providing engineering support to commuter railroads and transit agencies.


STV seeks a seasoned Project Manager in our Los Angeles or Oakland, CA offices.with an engineering background in rail vehicles to join our vehicle engineering team to work with our clients in the procurement and support of the next generation of commuter rail locomotives, passenger coaches and their maintenance and operation.

Responsibilities:

Candidate will be responsible for key client relationships and leading the day to day activities to support STV's Pacific Northwest area clients in the procurement of rail and zero emission bus vehicle fleets, trouble shooting and retrofits to that fleet and a variety of other activities in support of the clients' operation. Candidate will be responsible for the definition of engineering activities and tasks, the supervision of STV and subcontractor personnel performing those activities, and the administration of the associated contracts, invoicing and collection of payment. Duties may include any or all of the following: - Coordination and leadership of Specification Development and enforcement with builders supplying new commuter locomotives or coaches

  • Assist with activities ranging from design reviews to problem solving on vehicle subsystems (HVAC, Propulsion, Braking, etc) -The development of task proposals scope of work and budget, interface with client to obtain approval and set up in corporate administration system
  • Use of Spreadsheet and database (MS Excel and Access) tools to track activities against existing and future task work
  • Meetings and other activities at client locations and occasionally at manufacturer facilities around the US and other countries,
  • Will oversee STV employees conducting test activities including procedure development, data collection, data processing and report writing or review
  • Leadership of other engineers' activities from both STV and subcontractor firms in support of ongoing and special activities
  • Proposal and business development activities along with the delivery of PowerPoint type presentations in response to RFP's from our public sector clients.
  • Preparation of correspondence, reports and other documents.

Experience:

  • Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 12 years of industry experience with a minimum of five years recent experience in a position which involved project management and personnel supervision in rail or public transit passenger vehicle project environment.
  • Extensive experience with a vehicle manufacturer, a public transit agency or an operating passenger railroad.
  • Specialized expertise with locomotive engines, propulsion systems, vehicle dynamics, emission systems, vehicle dynamics testing or any rail or bus vehicle subsystem would be a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications and be able to learn new software.
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate a track record of satisfying client needs and the ability to operate autonomously with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

STV seeks engineers who are able to demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills. Candidates must hold ABET accredited four-year Bachelor's degrees in either mechanical or electrical engineering. Candidates must be willing to undertake a wide variety of tasks and activities, demonstrate flexibility and a desire for a wide range of engineering experiences. A Professional Engineering license or the ability to obtain is encouraged. Travel requirements can be up to 35% time for intermittent short periods, with most of the travel being same day trips to our client's sites.

Location: This position may be located in STV's Los Angeles or Oakland, CA offices.
